Hi, I'm Stasia Boschetti
I’m an American culinary writer and the founder of American Country Living.
For more than thirty years, I have cooked, tested recipes, collected cookbooks, studied hospitality, and followed the stories gathered around food.
Much of my work begins with a recipe. It may be a dish I have cooked for years, a handwritten card found inside an old cookbook, a seasonal ingredient at the farmstand, or a regional specialty I want to understand. I test the recipe in my own kitchen, study where it came from, and learn how generations of cooks adapted it to suit their families, ingredients, and circumstances.
American cooking gives me an enormous landscape to explore: California citrus, New England seafood, Southern baking, Midwestern supper tables, Southwestern chiles, Appalachian preserves, Gulf Coast cooking, Pacific Northwest berries, city bakeries, farm stands, heritage kitchens, family recipes, and traditions carried to America from around the world.
I want to know what people cooked, why they cooked it, how recipes traveled, and why certain dishes remain on American tables generations later.
My years working in catering gave me a practical understanding of feeding people. My training at The Protocol School of Washington in Washington, D.C., deepened my knowledge of hospitality and the customs surrounding the table.
At American Country Living, I publish thoroughly tested recipes alongside essays about regional cooking, food history, old cookbooks, seasonal ingredients, preserving, family recipe boxes, and the people behind the dishes.
After three decades in the kitchen, curiosity still leads the way. There is always another recipe to test, another cookbook to open, and another piece of American culinary history worth following.
Recipes. Regions. Stories.
With love,
Stasia
