Classic Club Sandwich with Ham, Turkey, bacon, Swiss & Cheddar, and Homemade Honey Mustard

When I photographed this sandwich, I was out of bacon. I considered holding off, but then I thought, that’s real life. Even without it, the sandwich still tasted wonderful. That said, I absolutely recommend adding bacon when you can. The smoky, salty crunch adds a richness that rounds it all out.
The club sandwich carries with it a piece of American culinary history. The earliest known version showed up in the late 1800s at the Union Club in New York City, which is where it gets its name. The sandwich quickly gained popularity and began appearing on menus in hotels, railcars, and small-town cafés across the country. Classic Club Sandwich with Ham, Turkey, Bacon, Swiss & Cheddar with Simple Homemade Honey Mustard

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
Instructions
- Whisk honey, mustard, and mayo together in a small bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Store in the fridge for up to one week.
- Double recipe if you would like more Honey Mustard
Ingredients
- 6 slices of white or wheat sandwich bread, toasted
- 4 slices of roasted turkey breast
- 4 slices of smoked deli ham
- 4 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked until crisp
- 2 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 leaves romaine or butter lettuce
- 4 slices vine-ripened tomato
- 3 to 4 tablespoons homemade honey mustard
- Salt and black pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Toast the bread - Toast all six slices of bread until golden and sturdy.
- Layer One - Spread honey mustard on the first slice of toast. Add one lettuce leaf, the turkey, and one slice of Swiss cheese. Place the second slice of toast on top, spread with more honey mustard on the top-facing side.
- Layer Two - Add tomato slices, a small pinch of salt and pepper, the ham, and crispy bacon. Top with one slice of cheddar cheese and a second lettuce leaf. Spread honey mustard on the inside of the last toast slice and place it on top.
- Serve - Gently press down, skewer with sandwich picks, and slice into halves or quarters. Serve with kettle chips, a cold salad, or a crisp pickle.
