When Spring Tips Her Hat to Summer

From the porch: A gentle farewell to spring

There’s a moment, just before summer fully settles in, when spring gives one last curtsy and tips her bonnet goodbye.

The breeze still carries the memory of blossoms, but the sun is beginning to mean business. Garden rows grow taller by the day. The animals get a little quieter in the heat. And I find myself reaching for sweet tea just a little sooner than I did last week.

Around here in Texas, summer doesn’t exactly tiptoe in, she comes in with a grin, kicks off her shoes, and stays a while. But before we dive into the hum of cicadas and the shimmer of long golden evenings, I wanted to gather a few last spring memories: little glimpses of life just as it was turning.

A few photos, nothing fancy. A bloom, a loaf, a shadow cast just right. The kind of things you don’t notice unless you’re really living slow.

Because that's the gift of spring, it trains your eyes to see. And summer? Well, she dares you to live in what you see.

So here we are, straddling seasons. One foot in soft petals, the other in bare feet on sun-warmed porch boards.

Thank you, spring. We’ll keep the sweetness with us.

And hello, summer, we're ready.

With love from the porch,

Stasia
